Dorothy Thomas

Dorothy Thomas, a writer, editor and lecturer, is a graduate of Hunter College and New York University. Her publications include biographies, articles on information science, and oral histories. She lectures on women and economics and women and the legal profession. Thomas is working on a history and collective biography titled Women, the Bench and the Bar.

Birdie Amsterdam

Birdie Amsterdam capped a career of firsts in the legal profession with her role as the first woman elected to the New York State Supreme Court. Over the course of her career, she volunteered for various organizations and causes, such as running a bond drive during World War II and serving as Tammany Hall district co-leader of the Manhattan Democratic Club.
