Jan Balakian

Jan Balakian, who holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University, is the author of two prize-winning screenplays, a romantic comedy called Everyone’s Depressed and the adaptation of Black Dog of Fate by Peter Balakian. Her scholarly work includes essays on American drama and interviews with American playwrights—Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams and Wendy Wasserstein—published by Cambridge University Press. She teaches literature and writing at Kean University in New Jersey.

Wendy Wasserstein

In 1989, Wendy Wasserstein won the Pulitzer Prize for The Heidi Chronicles and was the first woman playwright to win a Tony Award. After graduating from the MFA program at the Yale School of Drama, in which she was the only woman, Wasserstein wrote countless dramas, three musicals, various comedy skits for television, and a series of essays published in the New Yorker, Esquire, and Harper’s Bazaar.
