Ronne Friedman was the associate rabbi at Temple Israel in Boston at the time his synagogue became deeply involved in the Movement for Soviet Jewry. He recalls how his own involvement grew as he learned more and more about the Soviet Union and the factors that shaped and misshaped Jewish life there.
