This cartoon, titled "Menace Subject: Free Speech" was published on May 18, 1912 in the San Diego Union a few days after Goldman was denied the right to speak in San Diego. It illustrates the widespread public distrust of anarchism and the government's use of the weapon of deportation to rid itself of the anarchist "menace."
