Sheva Zucker

Sheva Zucker is the author of the textbooks Yiddish: An Introduction to the Language, Literature and Culture, Vols. I and II. She has taught Yiddish and Jewish literature for many years at Duke University in North Carolina and in the Uriel Weinreich Summer Program under the auspices of Columbia University and the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York City. She was for several years the translation editor of the Pakn Treger, the magazine of the National Yiddish Book Center and writes on women in Yiddish literature. She is currently the executive director of the League for Yiddish and the editor of its magazine Afn shvel.

Rose Shoshana

Rose Shoshana began her acting career in the Yiddish theater world, playing Manke in Got fun Nekome in 1908. She went on to perform across Europe, America, and Asia. When she arrived in New York in 1946, she began a career as a novelist, writer, translator, and journalist at the Forverts.

Rokhl Faygnberg (Imri)

Rokhl Faygnberg witnessed many of the defining events of modern Jewish history in her life, which took her from her shtetl to Israel. She was one of few women to establish herself as a professional Jewish writer and journalist, first in Yiddish and then in Hebrew, and in so doing was often outspoken, polemical, and controversial.
