Jennifer Marston William

Jennifer Marston William is Associate Professor and Chair of German and Russian at Purdue University, where she is a member of the steering committee for the Jewish Studies Program. She teaches a course on Jewish Cinema and lectures on Holocaust literature in the Introduction to Jewish Studies course at Purdue.

Helene Weigel

Helene Weigel was an actress and director known for her maternal roles in Bertolt Brecht’s plays and her incredible kindness and generosity. Weigel married Brecht in 1922 and they fled Germany during the war, returning to East Germany after the war. Weigel was known for her strength, energy, diplomacy, and good humor as she managed an acting career and dealt with many challenges in her lifetime. 

Lilli Palmer

After fleeing Nazi Germany, Lilli Palmer pursued her acting career in Paris, London, Hollywood, and New York. In the 1950s, she returned to Germany, becoming celebrated once again in her home country. Palmer was not only a prominent actor in numerous successful plays, films and television programs, but also a painter and an author of both fiction and non-fiction.
