Margaret Sarah Taft

Dr. Taft is a Research Associate at Monash University with an interest in post-war Jewish immigration. Her publications include From Victim to Survivor: The Emergence and Development of the Holocaust Witness 1941-49 (Vallentine Mitchell, London, 2013) and A Second Chance: The Making of Yiddish Melbourne (Monash Publishing, Melbourne, 2018), shortlisted for the Victorian Community History Awards. She is currently working on a biography of community leaders Leo and Mina Fink.

Mina Fink

Mina Fink was one of Australia’s most influential twentieth-century community leaders. With her husband she spearheaded the postwar immigration and resettlement of Holocaust survivors in Melbourne. As President of the National Council of Jewish Women she brought a new feminist and humanitarian agenda. She helped establish the Holocaust Museum and Research Centre in Melbourne and imparted it with a strong educational focus.
