Michelle Spinelli has a B.A. in English from Oberlin College and an M.A. in Women's History from Sarah Lawrence College. She has published in the area of women writers and reformers in the United States, as well as on the history and philosophy of “madness.” Currently, Spinelli is studying how the treatment of individuals with mental illness has changed over time in New York City, where she lives.
