Michelle Shain

Michelle Shain is a social scientist with who combines expertise in policy research and with deep knowledge of American Jewish life. She has an MA from the Avraham Harman Institute of Contemporary Jewry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a PhD in Social Policy from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. Dr. Shain spent ten years as a researcher at Brandeis University’s Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies before joining the Orthodox Union as Assistant Director of the Center for Communal Research.

Sylvia Barack Fishman

Sylvia Barack Fishman is an influential scholar of contemporary Jewish life. She is the author of six books and numerous monographs and articles on gender and family formation among American Jews, Jewish education, Jewish literature and film, and the interplay between Jewish and American values and culture. Fishman is the Joseph and Esther Foster Professor in Judaic Studies (Emerita) at Brandeis University and Co-Director of the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute.
