Rabbi Dr. Ariel Picard is a graduate of the Har Etzion Yeshiva ordained by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. He received his doctoral degree in2004 for a thesis on “The Rabbinical Decisions of Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef in the Light of Changing Times” abd served as communal rabbi at Kibbutz Shluhot, Now living in Jerusalem, he teaches at the Shalom Hartman Institute

Rabbi Ben-Zion Meir Hai Ouziel

Rabbi Ben-Zion Hai Ouziel was the Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel. Ouziel believed women could vote and be elected, serve as judges, use birth control for health reasons, and inherit property. He proposed a marriage formula that would prevent women from becoming agunot (“chained”).

Ben Ish Hai

The Ben Ish-Hai, R. Joseph Hayyim b. Elijah, was a well-known Baghdadi Torah scholar. He wrote many responsa and halakhic books, which included his rulings on women’s halakhot.
