Richard Menkis

Richard Menkis is Associate Professor of Jewish History at the University of British Columbia and specializes in the history of Jewish experiences in Canada. His publications include, with Harold Troper, More than Just Games: Canada and the 1936 Olympics. He is currently working  with Pierre Anctil on a two-volume documentary history of Canadian Jewry. For his publications, his public history projects, and other contributions, he was the 2018 winner of the Louis Rosenberg Canadian Jewish Studies Distinguished Service Award.

Miriam Dworkin Waddington

Miriam Dworkin Waddington was a distinguished and pioneering Canadian poet and literary critic. Her original poetry included many explicit references to her Jewish secular outlook, and other poems were infused with a commitment to social justice that drew on that same source. Impatient with the Canadian “canon” of her time, she introduced to wider audiences the works of A.M. Klein and poets writing in Yiddish with her literary criticism and her translations.
