Kim Marra

Kim Marra is associate professor of theater arts and American studies at the University of Iowa. Her publications include Passing Performances: Queer Readings of Leading Players in American Theatre History (1998) and its sequel Staging Desire (2002), both co-edited with Robert A. Schanke for the University of Michigan Press; and The Gay and Lesbian Theatrical Legacy: A Biographical Dictionary of Major Figures of the American Stage in the Pre-Stonewall Era, co-edited with Schanke and the late Billy J. Harbin. She has served on the editorial boards of Theater Survey and Theater History Studies, the Executive Board of the American Theater and Drama Society, and the Executive Committee of the American Society for Theater Research.

Rose Eytinge

Reportedly the first American theater actress to earn a three-figure salary, Rose Eytinge was praised for her fiery, passionate performances.  Known for taking on physically demanding roles, on a performance tour stop in Washington, she was invited to the White House by President Abraham Lincoln. In 1905 she published her autobiography, Memories of Rose Eytinge, detailing her life in theater.
