Beth LaRocca-Pitts is a lecturer in Bible at the University of Georgia. She previously taught Hebrew Bible at Duke Divinity School and Andover Newton Theological School. She has also served as a field archaeologist at Ein Nabratein, Sepphoris, Tel Ein Zippori and Beth Shemesh. She received a B.A. in religion from Duke University, an M.Div. at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University. She is the author of Of Wood and Stone: Israelite Cultic Items in the Bible and its Early Interpreters.
