Ruth Halperin-Kaddari

Ruth Halperin-Kaddari is a senior lecturer at Bar-Ilan University Faculty of Law and Director of the Ruth and Emanuel Rackman Center for the Advancement of the Status of Women at Bar-Ilan. She earned her LL.M and J.S.D. at Yale Law School. Her fields of interest include family law, feminist critique of law and of Jewish law, and women’s history in law. She wrote the official Reports of Israel to the United Nations Committee on Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and presented the first one at the United Nations in 1997. She serves as the Chair of the Advisory Committee to the Authority for the Advancement of Women at the Prime Minister’s Office. She is the author of, inter alia, numerous articles in Israel and abroad on family law, legal pluralism, feminism and halakha. Her book Women in Israel: A State of Their Own was published by Pennsylvania University Press in 2004.
