Laure Guilbert

Laure Guilbert studied history and litterature in Lille University and at the Paris Institut d’Etudes Politiques. She received her Ph.D. in History and Civilisation at the University European Institute in Florence. Her research has been published under the title Danser avec le Troisième Reich. Les danseurs modernes sous le nazisme (Dancing with the Third Reich: Modern Dancers under Nazism). She has taught cultural studies and history of the performing arts at the Universities of Metz, Versailles and Paris III-La Sorbonne Nouvelle. Since 2003, she has been in charge of the dance publication department at the Paris National Opera.

Paula Padani

Paula Padani was an influential choreographer, performer, and teacher who explored Jewish themes in her work as she danced throughout Israel, the United States, and Europe. Her work was inspired by the landscapes of Israel and biblical themes, and she was celebrated in post World War Two Paris for her talent and vitality as a Jewish artist.

Dore Jacobs

Dore Jacobs developed her own pedagogy, which viewed physical education as a holistic project, out of which came her own unique method of gymnastics. In 1923 she founded her School for Physical Education and Rhythmic Development; she was also a founding member of the German socialist organization called the Bund-Gemeinschaft für Sozialistisches Leben.
