Scott F. Gilbert

Scott F. Gilbert is professor of biology at Swarthmore College. He received his B.A. in biology and religion from Wesleyan University and his M.A. in the history of science and his Ph.D. in biology from Johns Hopkins University. In his post-doctoral work on developmental biology at the University of Wisconsin, Gilbert worked in the laboratory of a student of Salome Waelsch. He has published numerous works on embryology and its history, including the textbook Developmental Biology and A Conceptual History of Modern Embryology.
