Marsha Bryan Edelman

Marsha Bryan Edelman is Professor of Music and Education at Gratz College where she also serves as director of the Tyson Music Department. Educated at Columbia University (B.A., M.Ed., Ed.D.) and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America (B.H.L, B.S.M., M.S.M.), Edelman is a lecturer and writer on a wide range of topics relating to the nature and history of Jewish music, and the author of Discovering Jewish Music (Jewish Publication Society, 2003).

Johanna Spector

Johanna Spector was an influential ethnomusicologist whose writings, recordings, and film projects documented the music of little-studied Jewish communities from around the world. After surviving the Holocaust, Spector earned her doctorate, founded the ethnomusicology department at the Jewish Theological Seminary, established the Society for the Preservation of Samaritan Culture, and served as president of the Asian Music Society. 

Roberta Peters

Singer Roberta Peters led a career spanning more than half a century as one of the Metropolitan Opera’s most popular sopranos. A frequent performer on the radio, television, and stages around the world, Peters was also involved with many public health and Jewish organizations throughout her life.

Tziporah H. Jochsberger

Having escaped the Holocaust on the strength of her musical talents, Tziporah H. Jochsberger went on to use music to instill Jewish pride in her students. In the 1950s, she began teaching and studying music in New York. In addition to her teaching and administrative roles, Jochsberger found time for an active career as a composer.
