Naomi Chazan

Naomi Chazan is professor (emerita) of political science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is the author and editor of nine books and over 100 academic articles. Chazan is also a former Member of the Knesset (Meretz) and Deputy Speaker of the Knesset (1992-2003), past president of the New Israel Fund, and a human rights, peace, and feminist activist.

Shulamit Aloni, Member of the Knesset and Minister, was an important champion of human rights, civil rights, religious freedom, and the Palestinian right to self-determination. As founder and head of the Ratz and then Meretz party, she spearheaded progressive politics in Israel both on the formal level and in civil society for over half a century.
