Hinde Ena Burstin

Hinde Ena Burstin is an Australian-born native Yiddish speaker. She is a Yiddish and English writer and translator, whose poetry, short stories, feature articles and reviews have been published in anthologies, journals and newspapers in the United States, Canada and Australia. Her work has also been widely performed in Australia and abroad. She is also a researcher of Yiddish literature, with a focus on Yiddish women poets, and is currently compiling, editing and translating a book of Yiddish children’s poetry. She teaches Yiddish language, literature and culture and has lectured on Yiddish literature in the United States, Canada and Belgium, as well as extensively in Australia. One of her greatest pleasures, inspired in part by Rokhl Holzer, is reciting Yiddish poetry.
