Marla Brettschneider

Dr. Marla Brettschneider is Professor of Political Theory with a joint appointment in Women’s Studies and Political Science at the University of New Hampshire. She is an award-winning author working in the field of Jewish diversity political theory, bringing together queer, critical race, feminist, class-based, Jewish, and anti-colonial political theories. Her books include Jewish Feminism and Intersectionality; The Family Flamboyant: Race Politics, Queer Families, Jewish Lives; The Narrow Bridge: Jewish Views on Multiculturalism; and The Jewish Phenomenon in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Bessie Bloom Wessel was unique in her contributions to life in New England, both as an active citizen and as a scholar. She worked with immigrants, served on several committees, and produced significant ethnic studies.

Judith Tannenbaum Shuval

Judith Shuval is one of the main scholars in the field of the sociology of health in Israel. Her research on migration and health, inequality in health, self-care in health, the doctor-patient relationship, and the processes of professional socialization has been based in concrete life in Israel and has broader implications for such topics cross-culturally.
