Janet Beyer

Janet Beyer, who worked for twenty years as a journalist and columnist for local papers in Concord, Massachusetts, has contributed entries to American Women Writers and Notable American Women. She was co-author of The Great Depression: A Nation in Distress.

Shari Lewis won twelve Emmy awards for her children’s programming, which featured puppets on variety shows and children’s shows. She had several TV shows, including the Shari Lewis Show and Lamb Chop’s Play-Along, and earned some of the industry’s highest honors, including a Peabody Award.

Peggy Charren

Peggy Charren, founder of Action for Children’s Television (ACT), took on the burgeoning television industry of the 1970s and won. She received a Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1995 for her work on behalf of quality television programming for children.
