Alice Ogden Bellis is Professor of Old Testament at Howard University School of Divinity. She is an ordained Presbyterian minister and the author of Helpmates, Harlots, and Heroes: Women's Stories in the Hebrew Bible and Doing the Twist to Amazing Grace. She is co-editor of Jews, Christians, and the Theology of Hebrew Scriptures and co-author of Science, Scripture, and Homosexuality. Dr. Bellis is an active member of the Society of Biblical Literature. She is the mother of two daughters.
