Maurine Beasley

Maurine Beasley, professor emerita at University of Maryland College Park, holds a Ph.D. in American civilization from George Washington University, and has published extensively on the history of Washington women journalists. Her most recent book is Ruby A. Black: Eleanor Roosevelt, Puerto Rico and Political Journalism in Washington (Lexington, 2017).

Her half-century career at NPR opened the way for other women by demonstrating competence, originality, and compassion in reporting and interviewing. 

Nina Totenberg

Nina Totenberg has broken important stories on the United States Supreme Court during more than four decades of covering legal affairs for National Public Radio. She helped bring to public attention the previously hidden issue of sexual harassment during the controversial confirmation hearing of Justice Clarence Thomas and has received numerous accolades as a path-breaker in the male-dominated world of Washington journalism.
