Natan Aridan

Dr. Natan Aridan is a researcher at the Ben-Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Israel and Zionism, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He is editor of the journal Israel Studies. His recent book is Advocating for Israel: Diplomats and Lobbyists for Israel from Truman to Nixon. He is currently writing his next book on the contribution of Women and ‘Significant Others’ to Israeli Diplomacy.

She was the first official female Israeli ambassador, among six female Labor Party members who served in the eighth and ninth Knessets, and the first woman to serve on the Committee for Foreign Affairs and Defense. She also helped formulate and ensure the passage of a liberal abortion law in 1977.
