Rachel Adler is the Ellenson Professor of Modern Jewish Thought at Hebrew Union College-LA. Her writings include Engendering Judaism,, the first book by a female theologian to win a National Jewish Book Award for Jewish Thought, and over 50 articles, many of the reprinted in collections, as well as an adult education book, Tales of the Holy Mysticat. Books in process include Pour Out Your Hearth Like Water: Jewish Perspectives on Suffering, for Oxford University Press, and a collection on Gender in Jewish Theology and Ethics, coedited by Rachel Adler and Rachel Sabath BeitHalachmi.
