Body-positive blogger Nicolette Mason has become a leader in creating and celebrating fashion for women of all sizes and shapes. Mason studied at the Parsons School of Design and worked at a variety of graphic design jobs before beginning to write for Vogue, Refinery 29, and other fashion magazines in 2010. Meanwhile, she began blogging in 2009 on fashion, travel, food and other passions. In 2011 she became a contributing editor for Marie Claire, publishing the column “Big Girl in a Skinny World.” In 2014 she launched an eponymous clothing line through ModCloth, making sure to create sizes from extra small through 4X. She has also consulted with some of the top brands in the fashion world, including Chanel, Christian Dior, and Forever21. Resisting the fashion industry’s biases against full-figured women and against lesbians, Mason has spoken openly about her size and sexual orientation, working to change the culture. She co-founded Premme, a plus size clothing brand, and served as the CEO from 2017 to 2019. Since 2022, Mason has been a founding member of the Iranian Diaspora Collective, which works to fill the void for a united voice for secular democracy in Iran. She uses her social media platform to share about her familial history and the general history of Iran.
