Roy Einhorn has been the cantor at Temple Israel in Boston for more than 35 years. In the 1980s, he made several trips to the Soviet Union as part of the temple's efforts to support refuseniks. He brought them clothing, books, medicine, and Judaica. He views those trips as a high point in his career and sees a connection between efforts to aid Soviet Jews in the 1980s and refugee crises in the world today.
