Sally Bronston had just started high school as a freshman at Benjamin Franklin High School seven days before Katrina hit. She relocated with her family to Houston, but returned to New Orleans and to her high school, which became a charter school when it reopened in January, 2006. Already passionately involved in the Jewish community through NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth) and Kutz, she volunteered with Gates of Prayer Temple Youth at a women’s shelter in the Ninth Ward. She also joined the New Orleans Youth Leadership Council. Bronston graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013 and is now an associate producer for PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton.
