The 10th of the Top 11 Labor History Landmarks in New York City is the Henry Street Settlement.

One of several settlement houses on the Lower East Side set up to provide educational and welfare service to struggling immigrants, the Henry Street Settlement was founded in 1893 by Lillian Wald. Born into a well-to-do German Jewish family, Wald was a pioneer in American healthcare, essentially establishing the field of public health nursing.
