Greetings from JWA Leadership
Dear Friends,
It is an honor to present the Jewish Women’s Archive’s Report to the Community 2012.
For the past 16 years, JWA has been rescuing the stories of American Jewish women from obscurity, then preserving and transmitting them to inform and inspire a growing number of people of all ages and backgrounds.
Nearly 1.2 million people joined the ever-expanding JWA family this year: the educators who participated in our summer Institute, the growing online community that follows JWA’s lively blog, the pre-teen girls exploring their emerging identities on MyBatMitzvahStory.org, the researchers, students, and curious members of the public who sought to learn more about any of the 5,000 Jewish women whose stories are told on jwa.org.
The word is getting out: jwa.org is the place to tap into the rich legacy of American Jewish women, women who advanced the arts and sciences, built businesses, led movements for social change, and changed one life at a time as teachers, healers, mothers, and grandmothers.
It is you, the individuals and institutions listed on pages 9–11 of this report (and whose names are also listed on our website), who make it all possible. Your support ensures that anytime anyone anywhere in the world needs to hear these inspiring stories, jwa.org is only a click away.
There are still so many more stories that need saving. With your help, we will continue our mission to “uncover, chronicle, and transmit” these stories so future generations will discover and define what it means to be a Jewish woman in America.
As you will see in these pages, JWA is now a typical 16-year-old, with boundless energy and exciting dreams for the future. We look forward to creating that future together with you.

Previous Annual Reports
The "Report to the Community 2012" document covers JWA activities for our FY 2010–2012 (through summer 2012). In earlier years, we released Annual Reports focused on individual fiscal years (Our Fiscal Year runs from October 1 through September 30, in a rough approximation of the Jewish year).
