Aurora Mendelsohn of Rainbow Tallit Baby discusses the use of the word "egalitarian" in different aspects of Jewish life on Jewschool. She writes, "I could not help channeling Inigo Montoya; “Egalitarian…You keep using that word. Things got heated over a blog post by a JTS rabbinic student about whether women should stay home with kids or become rabbis on the Sisterhood. The author wrote: "I would rather see at least one parent at home full-time with her/his baby or toddler – ideally the birth mother, unless the child is adopted. This is what is best for the baby." Rabbi Phyllis Sommer spoke in defense of personal choice at Ima on (and off) the Bima.
